The front of the fibreglass hood needed some work to align with the header panel.

The hood is ready for block sanding.

The heater/AC box is eliminated. The plastic box also formed the right half of the cowl tray. The cowl tray will be built using metal to match up with the other side and a filler panel will cover the hole.

IMG_2870

The filler panel will be smaller than the original because the new cowl will cover the top bolts.

Here is the cowl tray installed.

A filler panel with a flanged edge replaces the heater box.

The spare tire well was removed and a flat filler panel was fabricated and welded in to cover the opening.

The lines are where the panel will be rolled with a jog.

Finished installation.

The parachute mounting braket is test fitted. Unfortunately one side is 3/4" longer than the other side so there is no movement available with the slotted mounts. That amount will be removed from the tubing and then welded back together. This will allow the bracket to slide left and right to center the bracket.

Green tape indicates the amount to be cut out.

The parachute mount and bracket are in place and everything lines up

The driver's door mirror was knocked loose and bent the area around the mirror mount. Because there is a plate behind that area it prevented the the dent from being worked out from the inside. The solution was to cut the area out, straighten it and then weld it back in place.

The paint was sun checked badly on the top surfaces of the car. The paint is stripped off to the factory primer.
