Replacing the complete box side seemed like an easy job and would have been if the body lines matched the original. Not sure what happened on this panel but body line was 3/4" higher in the front than at the back. Solution: cut the panel almost the entire length along the green tape lines, reposition the sections and weld back together. A tool storage box was salvaged from another truck box and was welded into this box.

After slicing the sections are repositioned to match the factory body line.

As if the box side modification wasn't enough, the tail light section had to move up about 1/2" to match the tailgate lines

Fill, sand, prime, sand, repeat...you know the routine.

Received the engine from the rebuilder. This is a mild build with 9:1 pistons, tow/rv cam and roller lifters.

The fuel tank is placed in position to determine where mounting brackets and straps will go.
