Replacing the complete box side seemed like an easy job and would have been if the body lines matched the original. Not sure what happened on this panel but body line was 3/4" higher in the front than at the back. Solution: cut the panel almost the entire length along the green tape lines, reposition the sections and weld back together. A tool storage box was salvaged from another truck box and was welded into this box.
After slicing the sections are repositioned to match the factory body line.
This photo shows the gap that now needs to be filled.
As if the box side modification wasn't enough, the tail light section had to move up about 1/2" to match the tailgate lines
Fill, sand, prime, sand, repeat...you know the routine.
Wet sand and polish.
Received the engine from the rebuilder. This is a mild build with 9:1 pistons, tow/rv cam and roller lifters.
Starting to finish the assembly.
The fuel tank is placed in position to determine where mounting brackets and straps will go.
