Stage Two
This car is now getting a Thunderbolt hood scoop installed. Another hood was sourced by the owner to preserve the original unmolested hood.
The scoop is about 5” too long to fit so the front of the scoop will be modified to fit. After cutting off the front, urethane foam is sanded to the desired contour for a form for the new fibreglass shape.
Studmounts are added to the inside of the scoop. This scoop will be bolted on to the hood when finished.
Because this hood is from a ’56 the holes are different than a ‘55 and the extra ones are welded closed. The hole opening is cut for the functional scoop.
Light coat of body filler and primer and things will be ready for paint.
After painting and polishing.
Stage One
This car had a number of spots that needed to be repaired. After an evaluation it was decided to repaint the whole car rather than blend in all the different spots.
The firewall was sandblasted and primed, ready for paint. The front frame was also sandblasted and painted semi-gloss black.
The firewall and cowl are painted. Interior trim panel pieces were repaired and painted.
The trunk was freshened up with new paint.
The white has been painted and masked, now the torquoise is applied.
The car is unmasked and all the trim reinstalled.
All engine bay and misc. components are painted semi-gloss black.
The inside of the hood had a thick layer of undercoating in one section which was peeling away. It was scraped off and the complete hood was repainted.
