Rocker panels, and lower rear quarter panels were also replaced with new sheet metal.
The
trunk lid is installed and the gaps are made even by welding filler
material to the body or cutting and re-welding as necessary.
At
this point the body is mounted back on the frame and the doors, front
fenders and hood are installed to align the gaps between panels.
The window frames were sliced and reshaped to line up with the dash.
A 1/25 scale model was painted to match the final paint on the real car.
The battery was relocated from the firewall to the trunk.
A tire and rim were positioned to determine what tire size would look right.
This photo shows the black cherry candy.
This
is the brandywine candy. The car will be two-toned with brandywine and
black cherry. The black cherry is the Brandywine Kandy over a charcoal
base color and the brandywine is the Brandywine Kandy over a light blue
base.
Some final pictures of the painted car.
A cloudy overcast day does not do justice to a candy color.
