This photo is representive of the finished car.
This Mustang is rust free, and all original sheet metal. Amazing! It is a 289 High Performance GT model. Most of the block sanding is finished at this point, all door/hood gaps are set.
For
some reason the hood had a slightly higher crown at the back where it
meets the cowl. Several relief cuts were made in the hood bracing to
allow the hood to flatten out slightly to match the cowl. The relief
cuts were then welded. Now the back of the hood aligns with the cowl.
The
front sub-frames were dented from different jacks over the years. The
black line marks where the frame will be cut out. Once the piece is
removed it can be straightened using a hammer and dolly technique. After
the piece is straight it is welded back in.
The underside paint is replicated very close to the way the car would have come from the factory.
