This Buick GS is getting a fresh coat of paint. It will be painted an original color that was available in 1972 called Victory Red.
Long before the new paint is applied, the old paint must be stripped off - all three colors.
Here is the reason why some of the paint/filler was starting to bubble. The repair from prior damage was not done correctly. The open holes allows moisture to wick into the body filler from behind causing it to delaminate from the body. All these holes will be welded closed to prevent this from happening.
Metal rods were welded to the edge of the trunk lid to tighten up the gap.
The rusty floor was replaced in two areas.
All the gaps have been set and the panels aligned. After several rounds of block sanding the car will be ready for paint.
After three coats of clear, wet sanding and polishing the car looks great. The car is ready for delivery, the owner will assemble the rest.
