Here is a 1973 Spider that is getting a complete body and paint makeover.
The first task is to chemically strip all paint from the body panels. Body edges and bottom will be sandblasted.
The car is now stripped and sandblasted.
There is lots of rust repair needed. The bottoms of the doors need replacing.
The taillight panel needs several patch pieces.
The inner wheel housing needs new metal as well.
A section of the spare tire well is replaced along with some patches on the side.
A piece is fabricated using a bead roller to make the flanges and radiused edges.
The piece is welded in place. Some other areas still need repair.
The rockers need to be rebuilt and the door hinge assembly will be replaced with a new piece. There are four different pieces that make up the rocker panel. Each piece will be rebuilt starting from the inside and working out.
The rocker panel is mostly rebuilt, just the outer panel to be installed. The door hinge assembly is mocked up in place for fitment before welding.
The outer rocker is in place. The inner rocker at the rear was rebuilt as well.
A new outer wheelhouse is installed. Everything is undercoated prior to the new quarter panel being installed.
