will be impossible to get paint into the notches once the sub-frame
connecters are installed. The notches are etch primed and then painted
black before the sub-frame connecters go in place.
There is some rust areas on the inside corner of of one of the doors that will be replaced with new metal.
Sometimes
reproduction fenders do not fit like the originals. In this case 3/8"
was cut off the fender to shorten it. Also the lower bodyline does not
line up with the corresponding line on the door, so it had to be cut and
moved down about 3/16". The third photo shows where the top inside edge
of the fender was lowered by cutting out a slice and re-welded.
The
metal work and filler are finished on the bottom of the car and is now
primed with an etch primer over the bare metal areas. This is followed
by two coats of high-build primer. After this is sanded it will be ready
for paint.
All the body panels are installed to check for alignment. Door gaps are set at this point as well. After filling in low spots with body filler this will soon be in high-build primer and ready for the first go-round of block sanding.
This is the last of the filler application. Next is priming and block sanding.
